Sectional Tank Support and Clearance Requirements

Internally flanged base tanks
- Headroom clearance should be a minimum of 750mm to allow the hinged access hatch to fully function. This can be reduced to 500mm in accordance with WRAS guidelines where a ”lift-off access hatch” is fitted. It is important to allow sufficient space for a person to gain safe access to the tank for future maintenance.
- Where hooped external ladders and guardrails are fitted, a height clearance of 1200mm above the tank is required
- Around the tank:
- A minimum of 500mm from internal tank dimensions is required for tanks up to 2m high.
- Tanks at 2.5 to 3m high, a clearance of 800mm from the internal tank dimensions is required.
- Tanks at 3.5 to 4m high ideally require a minimum of 1m clearance from the internal tank dimensions.

T.I.F TANK (HOT PRESS AND HLU)

- A clearance of 50mm from external tank dimensions is required on three sides of the tank and a minimum of 500mm from external tank dimensions is required on the side with connections and pipework.
