01
Commercial HVAC Pump Range
Grundfos offers different pump technologies for different areas of a commercial HVAC system. Explore the main ranges available from Tricel.
Grundfos TP & TPE Series
Vertical In-Line Pumps
In-Line Mounted
Fixed & Variable Speed
General Circulation
Twin-Head
Single-stage in-line centrifugal pumps for heating, air conditioning and cooling. TP runs at fixed speed; TPE2 and TPE3 add integrated speed control, TPE3 with built-in Modbus RTU for BMS communication. TPD and TPED twin-head versions cover duty/standby.
Grundfos MAGNA Range
Commercial Circulators
In-Line Mounted
Variable Speed
Building Circulation
Direct Replacement
Wet-rotor circulators for heating and cooling circulation in larger buildings, in cast iron or stainless steel and as twin-head variants. MAGNA1 suits circulation and replacement work; MAGNA3 adds advanced control and optimisation.
Grundfos NB & NBE Series
Close-Coupled End-Suction Pumps
Close-Coupled
Fixed & Variable Speed
Central Plant
Compact Footprint
Single-stage centrifugal volute pumps with main dimensions to EN 733 or ISO 2858, for larger commercial duties. The close-coupled design keeps the footprint compact. NBE variants carry integrated speed control where flow varies during operation.
Grundfos NK & NKE Series
Frame-Mounted End-Suction Pumps
Frame-Mounted
Fixed & Variable Speed
Central Plant
Motor Serviced Separately
Long-coupled end-suction pumps to EN 733 dimensions, mounted on a baseplate with the motor separate from the pump. The traditional choice for the largest central plant duties and for installations where motors are changed over the pump’s life.
Grundfos NBS & NBSE Series
Split-Coupled End-Suction Pumps
Split-Coupled
Fixed & Variable Speed
Central Plant
No Baseplate Required
Split-coupled end-suction pumps that need no baseplate, grouting or field alignment, in a footprint Grundfos states is up to 35% smaller than a frame-mounted equivalent. A spacer coupling allows back pull-out servicing without removing the motor.
HEATING & COOLING CIRCULATION IN LARGER BUILDINGS
Grundfos MAGNA Commercial Circulators
The Grundfos MAGNA range of commercial circulation pumps covers heating and cooling in larger buildings. MAGNA1 suits straightforward circulation and pump replacement; MAGNA3 adds advanced control and system optimisation.
02
COMMERCIAL HEATING & COOLING APPLICATIONS
Commercial Heating
Circulating heating water between boilers or heat pumps and emitters in offices, schools, hotels and healthcare buildings.
HVAC Systems
Moving water through air handling units, fan coils and terminal units in building-services systems.
Cooling Systems
Circulating chilled water between chillers and cooling coils.
Primary & Secondary Circuits
Separate pumping for generation and distribution circuits, each sized to its own duty.
Commercial Plant Rooms
In-line and end-suction options to suit available space, pipework layout and maintenance access.
District Energy
Circulation for heat networks serving multiple buildings from a central source.
03
Choosing the Right Commercial HVAC Pump
The correct pump depends on how the system is designed and operated. These are the main factors our team will ask about.
|
Factor
|
What we need to know
|
|---|---|
|
Flow Rate
|
The volume of water the system needs to circulate, usually in m³/h or l/s.
|
|
Head
|
The pressure the pump must generate to overcome system resistance, in metres.
|
|
System Demand
|
Whether demand is steady or varies through the day, which affects the choice between fixed-speed and variable-speed pumps.
|
|
Control Requirements
|
Standalone operation, external sensor inputs or communication with a building management system (BMS).
|
|
Application
|
Heating, chilled water or district energy, new installation or replacement, and the space available.

Comparing the Grundfos Commercial HVAC Pump Ranges
The five series differ mainly in how the pump is mounted, how it is controlled and the duty it is built for. Use this to narrow the options before talking to our team.

frequently asked questions
What type of pump is used in a commercial heating system?
Commercial heating systems use circulation pumps to move heated water between the heat source and the heat emitters. Depending on system size and design, this may be a wet-rotor circulator such as Grundfos MAGNA, an in-line pump such as TP, TPE or TPE3, or an end-suction pump such as NB or NBE for larger duties.
What is the difference between TP and TPE pumps?
Grundfos TP pumps are fitted with fixed-speed motors. TPE pumps have an integrated frequency converter, so their speed can change to match system demand. The TPE3 is the latest generation of the TPE range.
Which Grundfos pumps are suitable for commercial HVAC systems?
Grundfos ranges used in commercial HVAC include TPE3 and TP/TPE in-line pumps, NB/NBE end-suction pumps and MAGNA1 and MAGNA3 circulators. The right choice depends on flow rate, head, control requirements and the application, and our pump team can advise on a suitable option.
What is the difference between an in-line pump and an end-suction pump?
In-line pumps are mounted directly in the pipework, with the inlet and outlet in line with each other, so they need no separate foundation and suit plant rooms where space is tight. End-suction pumps have an axial suction port, a radial discharge port and a horizontal shaft, and are mounted on the floor or a baseplate. In commercial HVAC, in-line pumps such as the Grundfos TP and TPE series typically cover circulation duties, while end-suction pumps such as NB, NBS and NK handle larger flows in central plant.
Grundfos Commercial Heating & HVAC Pumps in Ireland
Tricel supplies Grundfos commercial heating pumps and HVAC pumps across Ireland, covering heating, chilled water and district energy applications. In-line pumps run from the intelligent TPE3 through the TP and TPE series, with TPD and TPED twin-head options for duty/standby. End-suction duties are served by the close-coupled NB and NBE series and the long-coupled NK. For commercial heating circulation pumps, the Grundfos MAGNA range covers MAGNA1 and MAGNA3.
