Pressurisation Units for Heating & Chilled Water Systems

Tricel supplies standard and project-specific pressurisation solutions for commercial HVAC and building-services applications, including the Tricel PU45 H/L packaged unit and Grundfos PHT pressurisation units, alongside SpiroVent Superior vacuum degassers. Our pump team can help identify the right configuration based on system pressure, volume, fluid type and control requirements.

Project-Specific Pressurisation

Custom Pressurisation Units

Not every heating or chilled-water installation suits a standard unit. For project-specific requirements, Tricel designs pressurisation arrangements around the system duty, control requirements and installation constraints, with the pump, break tank, pressure vessel and valves configured on one skid where the project suits it.

03

Vacuum Degassing for Heating & Chilled Water Systems

Maintaining the correct system pressure is only one part of protecting a sealed heating or cooling system. Air and dissolved gases in the circulating fluid can contribute to poor circulation, noise, corrosion and reduced system performance.

Tricel supplies SpiroVent Superior vacuum degassers, which remove free air, microbubbles and dissolved gases from closed heating, cooling and suitable process systems. A vacuum degasser does not maintain system pressure; it works alongside the pressurisation unit and expansion vessel.

04

Choosing the Right Pressurisation Unit

The right unit depends on the sealed system, its operating conditions and the level of control required.

Factor
What we need to know
System pressure
What cold-fill and operating pressures are required?
System volume
What is the approximate volume of the sealed heating or cooling circuit?
Fluid
Does the system contain water or a water/glycol mixture?
Top-up requirement
What top-up pressure and capacity are required?
Pump configuration
Is a single-pump arrangement suitable, or is additional resilience required?
Expansion equipment
What expansion-vessel arrangement is used with the system?
Controls & monitoring
Are alarms, BMS signals or additional monitoring required?
Installation space
Is a wall-mounted, floor-standing or skid-mounted arrangement most suitable?

frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a pressurisation unit and a vacuum degasser?

A pressurisation unit maintains the required pressure in a sealed system and tops it up when pressure falls. A vacuum degasser removes free air, microbubbles and dissolved gases from the system fluid. They do different jobs and can be used together.

A pressurisation unit monitors pressure within a sealed heating or cooling system and automatically introduces make-up water when pressure falls below the required level. It works alongside the expansion vessel rather than replacing it.

Pressurisation units are commonly used with sealed heating, chilled-water and commercial HVAC systems.

No. A pressurisation unit maintains pressure in a closed heating or cooling circuit. A booster system increases water-supply pressure within a building.

A twin-pump unit has two pumps serving one system, giving additional capacity or resilience depending on the model. A twin-system unit, such as Grundfos PHT A-T, tops up two separate sealed systems from one unit.

Yes, where the unit is designed for it. Grundfos PHT A-V adds glycol from a dedicated tank as it tops up the system. A standard unit filling with water alone will gradually dilute the glycol mixture.

Pressurisation Units in Ireland

Tricel supplies pressurisation units in Ireland for sealed heating, chilled-water and commercial HVAC systems. Sealed system pressurisation keeps a closed circuit at its working pressure, so heating system pressurisation units and chilled water pressurisation are selected around the system rather than the building’s water supply.

Solutions include the Tricel PU45 H/L, the Grundfos PHT range of HVAC pressurisation units and custom commercial pressurisation units where a standard sealed heating system pressure unit does not meet the installation requirements. Our pump team can assess system pressure, volume, fluid type, control requirements and plant-room conditions, then install, commission and maintain the unit.

Pressurisation and degassing are separate functions. A SpiroVent Superior vacuum degasser removes free air, microbubbles and dissolved gases, which a pressurisation unit does not do, so it suits heating system degassing as well as chilled water vacuum degasser installations. When specifying a vacuum degasser in Ireland, our team can advise on HVAC vacuum degassing, dissolved air removal and wider commercial HVAC water treatment, and on where the degasser fits alongside the pressurisation and expansion arrangement.
