Understanding Storage Water Tanks
Storage water tank play a crucial role in storing and supplying water for various purposes, from domestic to industrial applications. These tanks come in multiple types, sizes, and materials, each serving specific needs and requirements. Let’s explore the different aspects of storage water tanks in detail:
types of storage water tank
From traditional to innovative designs, storage water tanks are available in various types to suit different preferences and applications. Let’s explore some Tricel’s tanks:
These one-piece water storage tanks are produced at Tricel Killarney factory in Ireland and cater to both potable and non-potable water needs. They offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for water storage, with options for standard or customized insulated tanks. Tricel’s tanks are corrosion-free, requiring minimal maintenance, and come with features like sealed lids, condensation trays, and screened inlets. They are available in ivory color, comply with BS EN ISO 9002 Quality Assurance standards, and are delivered promptly throughout Ireland.
Tricel has introduced its largest tank capacity to date, with a 6,000-litre one-piece tank now available in their range. Stock tanks are readily accessible, ensuring swift delivery across Ireland. These top-quality tanks are fully certified and WRAS approved, saving time on installation as they are ready to use upon delivery. The external dimensions of the tank measure 2200 x 2200 x 1540mm.
Tricel’s sectional tanks offer a range of key benefits, including ISO 9001 accreditation and over 50 years of service to the construction industry. With trained technical staff available for support, these tanks are suitable for storing potable water and can be insulated to Format 30 (F30). They come with options for internally or externally flanged bases and heavy-duty covers. The types of sectional tanks include externally flanged base tanks, suitable for elevated supports; internally flanged base tanks, ideal for flat foundations or levelled steel beams; internally flanged (I.F) tanks, customizable for site requirements; and true totally internally flanged tanks (TRUE TIFF), designed for positioning against walls or in restricted spaces. Tank panels are available in metric sizes, with no restrictions on length or width, and heights up to 3m. Lengths, widths, and heights are available in half-panel increments for flexibility in sizing.
Tricel offers a range of tank options, including custom built rectangular or square tanks. Tricel also manufactures L-shaped tanks to suit difficult installation conditions.
Tricel’s fire protection tanks adhere to stringent regulations due to the destructive nature of fire. Ranging from 5m3 to 1300m3 in capacity, these tanks are trusted by businesses, municipalities, and insurers for emergency water supply to sprinkler systems during fires. Manufactured from robust GRP for longevity and durability, Tricel tanks require minimal maintenance, reducing the need for draining during upkeep. Tank capacity levels are determined by hazard classifications, refill capabilities, holding capacity requirements, and sprinkler system design standards.
Water tank options for misting systems include insulated tanks suitable for storing wholesome water and un-insulated tanks for non-wholesome applications. Misting systems use nozzles connected to a water piping system and activated to pump water from the storage tank, dispersing fine water droplets or mist to suppress fire by removing oxygen and heat elements. Fire protection misting tanks reduce asset damage and operational downtime in critical applications, with larger surface areas enhancing system effectiveness. The main objective of installing a water mist system is fire extinguishment or suppression/control, offering benefits such as immediate activation, quicker firefighting, minimized water damage, reduced downtime, and environmental friendliness compared to traditional sprinkler systems.
installation and placement
Proper installation and placement of storage water tanks are essential for optimal performance and longevity. Consider the following factors:
- Location: Choose a stable and level location away from direct sunlight to prevent algae growth and minimize temperature fluctuations.
- Foundation: Ensure a solid and level foundation to support the weight of the tank and its contents.
- Accessibility: Maintain adequate clearance around the tank for easy access during installation, inspection, and maintenance.
- Safety: Follow local regulations and guidelines for safe installation practices, including proper anchoring and securing of the tank.
Maintenance and Care
Regular maintenance is key to ensuring the efficiency and longevity of storage water tanks. Here are some essential maintenance tasks:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the tank to remove sediment, debris, and potential contaminants.
- Inspection: Inspect the tank and its components for signs of wear, corrosion, or damage.
- Repairs: Promptly address any leaks, cracks, or malfunctions to prevent further damage and ensure proper functioning.
- Water Quality: Monitor water quality regularly and treat as necessary to prevent bacterial growth and maintain hygiene standards.
Benefits of Storage Water Tanks
Storage water tanks offer numerous benefits for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Some key advantages include:
- Water Conservation: Storage tanks enable efficient collection and storage of rainwater for various uses, reducing reliance on municipal water supplies.
- Cost Savings: By harvesting rainwater or storing excess water during off-peak hours, storage tanks can help reduce water bills and overall utility costs.
- Emergency Preparedness: In areas prone to water shortages or disruptions, storage tanks provide a reliable source of water for essential needs during emergencies.
- Environmental Sustainability: By promoting water conservation and reducing demand on public water sources, storage tanks contribute to environmental sustainability efforts.
- Distribution: Water is distributed from the tank to different outlets, such as taps, hoses, or irrigation systems, through the outlet pipe.
- Overflow Management: Excess water is directed out of the tank through the overflow pipe to prevent overfilling and potential damage.
