Wastewater Pumps & Drainage Solutions
Tricel supplies wastewater, sewage, effluent and drainage pumps for commercial, industrial and building-services applications across Ireland. From light drainage duties to heavy-duty submersible sewage pumps, our team can help identify the right pump based on flow, head, solids handling and installation.
01
Wastewater Pump Range
Wastewater applications vary widely. The right pump depends on whether it is handling relatively clean drainage water, effluent containing solids and fibres, or untreated sewage.
Grundfos SE & SL
Heavy-Duty Wastewater & Sewage Pumps
PUMP TYPE
Heavy-duty submersible
HANDLES
Raw sewage, wastewater and process water
INSTALLATION
Submerged, or dry on selected models
Grundfos SE and SL pumps are built for demanding wastewater duties, including unscreened raw sewage with rags and fibres. Single-channel and SuperVortex hydraulic versions are available to suit the solids content.
Grundfos SEG
Wastewater Grinder Pumps
PUMP TYPE
Submersible grinder
HANDLES
Untreated wastewater and sewage
INSTALLATION
Pressurised pipe networks
Grundfos SEG pumps cut solids and fibres at the pump inlet before the wastewater enters the discharge pipe. They suit pressurised networks with smaller pipe diameters where gravity drainage is not available.
Grundfos DP & EF
Drainage & Effluent Pumps
PUMP TYPE
Submersible drainage (DP) and effluent (EF)
HANDLES
Drainage water (DP); effluent without toilet waste (EF)
INSTALLATION
Submersible
Grundfos DP and EF pumps cover lighter wastewater duties. DP is a drainage pump for water in and around buildings and small businesses; EF handles effluent and suitable wastewater, but not toilet waste.
Grundfos UNILIFT AP
Compact Drainage & Effluent Pumps
PUMP TYPE
Compact stainless-steel submersible
HANDLES
Drainage water and effluent; sewage on larger versions
INSTALLATION
Portable or permanent
Grundfos UNILIFT AP pumps provide compact stainless-steel pumping for drainage and effluent. Versions differ in solids handling, and auto-coupling versions are available for permanent installations.
Need a Complete Wastewater System?
Packaged Pumping Stations
Where gravity drainage is not possible, Tricel can supply a complete packaged pumping station that combines the chamber, pumps, pipework, controls and associated equipment in one coordinated system, for foul water, sewage, greywater and project-specific drainage requirements.

Wastewater Pump Applications
Raw Sewage
Solids-handling pumps for untreated wastewater and sewage transfer.
Effluent & Greywater
Pumps for wastewater containing smaller solids or fibres.
Drainage & Dewatering
Removal of surface water, groundwater and accumulated drainage water.
Commercial Buildings
Wastewater and drainage pumping for offices, hotels, schools and other commercial developments.
Industrial Wastewater
Pumps for suitable industrial wastewater and process-water duties.
Wastewater Networks
Wastewater transfer through pumping stations and pressurised sewer systems.
03
Choosing the Right Wastewater Pump
The right pump depends on what is being pumped, the hydraulic duty and the installation.

Wastewater Pumps vs Drainage Pumps
Wastewater pumps
Designed for effluent, sewage or other wastewater that may contain solids and fibres.
Drainage pumps
Intended for cleaner liquids such as surface water, seepage and groundwater.
Select the pump according to the actual liquid and its solids content, not by pipe size or motor rating alone.
Pump Controls & Monitoring
Wastewater pumping often needs more than the pump. Depending on the application, a system may include level sensing, alarms, duty/standby control and remote monitoring. Selected Grundfos ranges, including SEG, are also available in AUTOADAPT versions with built-in control.
Tricel supplies monitoring and control equipment with its wastewater pumps and can support pump and control selection for new installations and existing systems, with installation, commissioning and service and maintenance.
frequently asked questions
What type of pump is used for sewage?
Wastewater containing sewage needs a pump designed for solids handling. Depending on the system, this may be a solids-handling wastewater pump or a grinder pump. Final selection depends on the flow, head, solids content and discharge system.
When should a grinder pump be used?
A grinder pump suits pressurised pipe networks with smaller pipe diameters and typically lower flows. It is not ideal where the wastewater carries a high sand content.
What is the difference between a wastewater pump and a drainage pump?
Wastewater pumps are designed for liquids that may contain sewage, solids or fibres. Drainage pumps generally handle cleaner surface water, seepage or groundwater.
Can Tricel supply a complete wastewater pumping station?
Yes. If you have an existing Hydro Multi-B booster set, send the pump nameplate details, system information and required duty to our pump team. We can review the installation and advise on servicing or a suitable current replacement.
Wastewater Pumps in Ireland
Tricel supplies wastewater pumps in Ireland for commercial, industrial, residential and drainage applications. Because sewage, effluent and drainage water behave differently, each pump is selected for the liquid it will handle.
The range of Grundfos wastewater pumps includes heavy-duty SE and SL submersible wastewater pumps, SEG grinder pumps for pressurised networks, DP drainage pumps, EF effluent pumps and compact UNILIFT AP pumps. Together they cover commercial wastewater pumps, industrial wastewater pumps and sewage pumps in Ireland, as well as drainage pumps in Ireland for buildings and small businesses.
Our team can assess the wastewater type, solids content, required flow, pumping head and installation to identify an appropriate pump. Where a complete system is needed, see packaged pumping stations; for project-specific packages, bespoke pump systems; and for chemical treatment of wastewater, dosing pumps.
Not Sure Which Wastewater Pump You Need?
Tell our pump team about your liquid, expected solids, required flow, pumping head and installation, and we can help identify the most suitable pump.
